Privacy Policy

Effective: April 18, 2026

This policy describes how the METAR Tracker iOS app and associated products operated by Notwen Consulting (“we”, “us”) handle information. In short: we do not collect, store, or share personal data. Everything the app does happens on your device or between your device and a public aviation weather API.

What We Do Not Collect

Permissions the App Requests

Bluetooth. The app uses Bluetooth Low Energy to provision Wi-Fi credentials on METAR Tracker hardware units that you own. BLE is not used to connect to any other device, beacon, or service.

Location (when in use). The app uses your current location only to sort the airport picker by distance, so the closest reporting stations appear first when you pick a home airport. Your location never leaves your device and is not stored, logged, or transmitted.

Network Access

The app makes outbound network requests to two endpoints:

Data Stored on Your Device

The app stores the following locally on your iPhone or iPad, via Apple’s standard on-device storage:

This information remains on your device. It is included in your iCloud device backup only if you have iCloud Backup enabled for iOS generally, in which case it is encrypted by Apple under your iCloud account.

Purchases

Any in-app purchases (for example, virtual-chart unlocks) are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We receive only anonymized aggregate sales data from Apple; we do not receive your name, email, payment information, or Apple ID. Please review Apple’s Privacy Policy for details on how Apple handles App Store transactions.

Children

METAR Tracker is intended for pilots and aviation enthusiasts, not children. We do not knowingly collect any data from children under 13.

California & EU Users

Because we do not collect personal information, there is no data for us to sell, disclose, or process on your behalf under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) or the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). If you still have questions about your rights, please contact us at the address below.

Changes to This Policy

If we materially change how the app handles data, we will update this page and bump the effective date above. For significant changes we will also post a notice in the app itself.
